The Judge is Jaime Garcia's boldest statement under the My Father name — a thick, soft box-pressed powerhouse built around an oily Ecuadorian Sumatra Oscuro wrapper and a rare double binder of Nicaraguan Corojo and Criollo. It's a cigar that announces itself from the first draw and never lets up.
The Judge was introduced at the 2016 IPCPR Trade Show and named in honor of a close family friend of the Garcias who serves as a federal judge — a fitting tribute for a cigar that carries real authority. Blended by Jaime Garcia and made at the family’s My Father Cigars S.A. factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, The Judge is the fourth regular production line under the My Father name and its most distinctly Nicaraguan expression — built around tobaccos grown exclusively on three Garcia family farms.
The soft box-press gives this cigar a commanding presence in the hand, and the dark, oily Ecuadorian Sumatra Oscuro wrapper sets the tone immediately — cedar and bold earth arrive on the first draw, quickly joined by espresso and a persistent wave of black pepper on the retrohale that is unmistakably Garcia. The rare double binder of Nicaraguan Corojo and Criollo adds structure and spice complexity that builds beautifully through the midpalate, where cocoa and toasted nuts emerge alongside a natural sweetness from the wrapper that keeps the bold profile from ever tipping into harshness. The final third delivers a long, satisfying finish of dark earth and espresso with just enough lingering pepper to remind you who made it.
Construction throughout is everything you’d expect from the Garcia family — flawless draw, even burn, and a dense, heavy smoke output that makes the 56 ring gauge work in the cigar’s favor. This is My Father at its most powerful and purposeful.
